Shikari Shambu Meets The King

Once upon a time, a wise and generous king ruled Naga kingdom. He heard many stories of Shikari Shambu’s adventures.  He became elated to meet Shambu.

Shikari Shambu bowed before king, “my lord, thank you for inviting me to your kingdom.”

King Nagendra acknowledged Shambu with a big smile on his face, “I am pleased to see you here." He continued, “You are my special guest and will be treated as royal” Shambu smiled and pondered looking around the palace, “How regal people must be living here?”

One of the kingdom’s maids took Shambu to his huge royal room. He glanced into his room and felt impressed. His face lightens with the smile.

Shambu thought in mind, “This room is huge. I can stay here forever.” He yawned and bounced on furry bed.

Someone knocked on the door. His eyes flew open, “who is this?” he asked.

“My lord has called you.” It said a female voice. He heard and opened the door. She continued, “You are invited for lunch, Mr.Shambu.” he looked at wall watch and realized he slept a couple of hours.

Shikari Shambu met the King Nagendra in a huge room for lunch. There were varieties of food placed on the table for Shambu’s royal treatment. He determines to eat everything, but couldn’t have much.

King Nagendra interrogated Shambu in his kingdom, “Do you know why I have called you in my kingdom?” Shambu ponders and hurriedly shook his head.

“My pet, Sheru has become wild and cannot be controlled.” King Nagendra answered.

Shikari Shambu thought sadly to himself, “I thought I would stay here as royal.” he continued, “Well hope Sheru is cute like his name.”

Shambu stunned to see huge tiger in a cage. He roared louder glancing towards Shambu.
King Nagendra says, “This is your hardest challenge Shambu” he continued, “If you can control Sheru, you will be awarded.”

Shambu looks excitedly with respect to trophy and variety of foodstuffs made for him. He assured, “I can control him easily.” He continued, “My lord. You do not worry.”

Sheru came out of the cage and roared loud. Nervous Shambu doesn’t comprehend what to do. Tiger took his steps steadily ahead and thought “You are my meat” he growled again.

However, Shambu escapes his attacks twice.

Suddenly, clever Shambu got an idea. He says, “Sheru, if you listen to me, I’ll gift you deer.” Sheru ends sprinting and twinkles picturing his food, “deer”

When King Nagendra and hands of king enter pet room, Sheru jumps on Shambu and growls.

But, Shambu fells on the floor with a thud. Shambu pleaded softly, “Please do not harm me. I will gift you deer.” He repeated.

Sheru growled joyfully in a victory as Shambu pleads. He tugged rope and put Sheru back in the cage.

King Nagendra and his people are happy with him. “Shambu, you deserve this award.” King Nagendra said looking at a delighted Shambu and continued, “you are very brave." Shambu felt satisfied when king continued again, “you controlled my Sheru that no one in my kingdom could do it.”

Shambu replied with honor, “Ofcourse my lord. It’s not easy for everyone to trap a tiger, you know.” He continued while looking at varieties of food, “I told you I could control him easily.” Sheru pictured his food dreamily, “Deer! Deer!”

The Loyal Squirrel

Once upon a time, there was a villager named Ramu, he had a pet squirrel called Shengu. He loves peanuts and actual playful in nature. He likes to mock children’s and makes fun of them. However, his kind quality of serving everyone melts Ramu’s heart. Ramu being a gardener spent day in taking care of his master’s garden.

Ramu looks at his kids and thinks, “one day you will make me proud, my children.” His face changed into calm and composed. He again thought petting one of his child’s head, “you will not work as a gardener.” He is sick yet carries food to his children.

Shengu knows Ramu works hard and takes care of his master’s garden. He decides to help Ramu in his work to reduce his overload.

Even so, knowing his naughty nature, Ramu commands him, “this is my master’s yard. You will not play here.” Shengu agrees and pulls the pipe to sprinkle water on flowers, but his over-excitement habit, wets Ramu.

He became furious and chooses to punish Shengu. Ramu orders him, “you will go and sit on the tree without saying a word” his temper didn’t stop here. He continued saying, “you will not disturb me.” Ramu is still wet so changes his clothes and continues work throughout the day. Shengu sadly sits on the tree. He looks at the kids playing under the tree and does not budge.

However, kids startled when Shengu didn’t jump on them. One of the kids asked, “What happened Shengu? Today you will not play with us?” Shengu unhappily shook his head but does not give them a hint. It was the first time, when Shengu didn’t make fun of kids.

The four kids decide to bring Shengu down to play with them. One of the kids said, “I will bring peanuts. He loves them. He will surely come down.” Other three kids excitedly agreed and wait until peanuts were bought for Shengu.

Shengu’s eyes twinkled gaping at peanuts. He wanted to grab his favorite food. Nevertheless, when glanced towards Ramu, he realized that he cannot get down until Ramu doesn’t command him to do so.

Kids plan failed. However, they didn’t stop here. They decide to bring Matur. He is a big fat kid harasses them. It’s only Shengu, who can stop him as he gets scared of him.

Matur came to know that these four kids require help to make Shengu happy. He chooses to take benefit and opens harasses those kids. He pulled one of kid’s hairs. Other three cry, “Help! Help!” they continued screaming, “Please someone help” When Shengu hears them for help, he thought, “I should help them” but another voice in his mind said, “no. no. I can’t go down. My master will not like it.” He became upset and felt helpless. Shengu is loyal to Ramu and cannot disobey his command.

These kids plan failed again but didn’t give up on their friend, Shengu. They called Ramu, “Uncle. Shengu is not coming down” Ramu well-informed them, “He is punished.”

Kids felt amazed and begged for reason. Ramu said, “Shengu became very naughty. I told him not to play in the yard, and so he made me wet.” He continued, “This is his punishment.” Hearing this, kids became sad and went back to their home.

Older Ramu neglected Shengu and went back to his home.

Shengu watches him and thinks, “I am here” he is heart-broken as Ramu is not talking to him.

Lalit and Sunil asked his father, “baba where is Shengu?” Ramu is stunned while looking around him and realized that he is still on the tree. He sprints and cries “come down Shengu.” Excitedly he comes down and jumps on Ramu. They both smile and laugh. Ramu says, “I am sorry son. I left you alone.” Shengu forgives knowing Ramu is getting older.

Shengu runs behind Ramu till home. Lalit and Sunil happily hug Shengu.

Next day, Ramu let Shengu assists him in gardening. He told Shengu to bring scissor. Shengu ran inside and bought it. He looked carefully without making a mistake and helped Ramu in his work.

Ramu and Shengu are happy and work together as gardeners.

Moral: Animals are harmless and loyal. If you give them love, they will never betray you.
