Chapter Three (PART-2)
Piya’s
POV
I
heard soft cluttering sound of shoes that were coming from outside the front
door. I was sitting on the bench, in police station.
Now
the sound was closer and much louder. I bend my head towards the front door to
see who was coming. I still had tears in my eyes, my lip were dry and throat
sour due to crying. I saw my dad standing near the door. He saw
me giving a strict serious look, buttoned his grey suit. As soon as I stood to
run towards my dad, he just walked inside and moved towards inspector Shinde.
Eventually,
mom too came inside. But she didn’t allowed to hug her. She just raised her
hand and stopped me to come closer to her.
Surprisingly,
Misha and Ruhi were standing behind mom. I was shocked to see them. I walked
backward towards Misha and whispered in her ear, “tum log yaha kya kar rahe
ho?” I saw a guilt and disappointment at the same time, on Misha’s face. Ruhi was asusual
nervous. Somehow, they gave signal with their eyes and rubbed my hand and Misha
told me to stand with her.
“Piya.”
I heard someone calling my name possessively. I turned my head back, again
another shock for me.
Kabir
and Angad both came together.
Kabir hugged me tightly in his arms and asked, "tum thik toh ho, Piya?" I nod my head in response. I saw several questions flashing in his eyes.
“What
the hell.” I murmured. I pulled myself from his arms.
Before,
I could speak anything, my dad started his talk. He bang on inspector Shinde’s
table and shouted at him, “Aap ki himmat kaisi hui meri beti ko police station
mai puri raat rakhne ki?” I never saw that much anger on dad’s face ever. He always
been sophisticated and soft-spoken man. He never screamed or even shouted at
anyone. But looking at his volume, I felt stunned.
“Aap
ki beti se hi kyun nahi puch lete hai ke unko police station mai rakha kyun hai?” Inspector Shinde uttered excusing himself from all the blames.
My
dad pointed forefinger towards his face and said harshly, “aap ne pakda hai usse. Isliye
aap batayenge ke ussne kya kia hai.”
“Thik
hai. Agar mere muh se hi aap ko sach janna hai toh aayiye sach ki shuruwat waha
se karte hai jaha se hona chahiye.” He pointed his hand towards the lockup and
stood from his chair to take my dad, mom, Misha, Ruhi, Kabir and Angad. I was
standing with Misha. She was holding my hand.
“Inn
se milaye. Yeh auto wala hai. Wahi auto wala jiss ke auto mai baith ke aap ki
beti ghumne gayi thi.” He pointed finger at Auto driver who was first sitting
in the lockup giving a depression look. But as soon as inspector Shinde
introduced him to my parents and friends, he stood up and looked at him giving
a guilty look.
“Ghumna
kya jurm hai? Jo meri beti ko police station mai lekar aa gaye aur iss auto
wale ko lockup mai daal dia?” Dad yelled.
“Aap
ko apni beti se puchna chahiye kitna baje ghumne gayi thi.” Inspector Shinde
politely said.
“Mai
apni beti se kuch nahi puchunga. Jo batayenge sab aap hi batayenge.” He looked
at me in anger and then he stared at inspector Shinde.
I
wiped my tears with free hand and concentrated on their talks.
“Kal
raat aap ki beti raat ke 2 baje ghumne nikali. Subah ke 4 baje humne inhe Peth
fort ke waha se pakda.” Dad shockingly stared at me by turning his head behind.
Mom’s expression too wasn’t pleasant. Everyone had their eyes on me. I felt
guilty looking at everyone and I couldn’t see in anyone’s eyes. My eyes gazed
down, at my own sandal, which were messy and all muds were stuck on my silver
sandal.
Inspector
Shinde continued with his complaints, “itna hi nahi, aap ki beti ne tourist
spots pe ghumne ke liye, iss auto wale ko rishwat dene ki koshish kia.” Dad
broadly opened his mouth and looked at me in shock. Mom simply nodded and gave a
hint with her eyes, as if her eyes were talking several unsaid hateful words to
me.
I
innocently looked at my dad, mom. Misha whispered in my ear, “tu pagal ho gayi
hai? Yeh tune kya kia? Apne saath-saath uss auto wale ko bhi fasa dia?” Her
words not only hurted me, but it ached my heart. I realised my mistake of
bribing Auto driver. But at that moment, I had no choice and even he greedily
agreed to take me. Afterall, even he needed money and I wanted to find vampire.
We both needed help and certainly, this was the only choice I had.
“Meri
beti ne tumhe kitne rupaye diye?” Dad asked auto driver giving a serious look.
Auto
driver was already scared as Inspector Shinde was looking at him in anger. But
he said the truth, “ek bhi nahi. Didi ne kaha tha ke sab jagah ghumne ke baad
rupaye degi.” He replied in shiver while glancing at me.
“Dekha
inspector. Meri beti ne sirf kaha tha, uss ne rishwat dia nahi. Toh kis buniyat
pe usse yaha rakha gaya?” Dad finally supported me and defended me in front of
inspector Shinde.
“Shayad
aap ko pata hoga jaise bribe dena aur lena ek jurm hai. Waisa hi bribe offer
karna aur offer accept karna bhi ek jurm hai.” Inspector Shinde started talking
about his law and under section act. Everything simply went bouncer from my
head. He continued with his talk while looking at me first and then at my dad,
“Aap ki beti ne bribe ka offer dia tha aur iss auto wale ne uss offer ko accept
kia.” He then gazed at Auto driver. Auto driver innocently put his head down
and accepted his mistake.
Dad
wasn’t willing to talk with me, same goes with mom. They completely side-lined
me as if I never existed for them. I really felt very bad that my parents
behaved as if they lost their trust on me.
Inspector
Shinde allowed leaving me. Dad completed the formalities and signed a document.
That inspector told his constable to get that auto driver from the lockup. The
constable unlocked the lockup and grabbed auto driver’s collar and pushed him
towards Inspector Shinde’s table.
Auto
driver joined his hands and apologized to inspector Shinde and said, “Maaf kar
doo sahab, dubara aisi galti nahi hoga.”
Inspector
Shinde nods his head and said, “Tumhare hisse ka jurmana bhar dia hai Mr.
Dobriyal ne. Inko bhi shukriya keh doo. Aaj inhone tumhara jurmana nahi bhara
hota toh tum aaj bhi iss jail mai saad gaye hote.”
Auto
driver joins his hand and thanks my dad for saving him from all the trouble. He
even ends up falling on my dad’s legs and holds it pleading for forgiveness.
My
dad forgives him and stood up from the chair. He caressed auto driver’s
shoulder and said, “tumne meri beti ki madat kia hai. Jo maine kia woh kuch bhi
nahi hai uss ke saamne. Shukriya toh mujhe tumhe kehna chahiye. Galti meri beti
ne kia aur sazzaa tumhe mili.” Dad looked at me turning his head behind and
taunted looking into my eyes. He continued with his talk to taxi driver, "maafi toh mujhe tumse maangna chahiye. Meri beti ki galti ne tumhe lockup mai daal dia."
I
felt shivering in my body when dad looked at me. I’ve no words how I felt when
he looked at me. I was feeling guilty, but more than guilt, there was
frustration for everything that I had to suffer from last night and my parents
didn’t even bothered to ask me what exactly happened last night. But I was sure
that even if they haven’t asked anything in the police station, still they will
ask me later. Mom was not in the mood of talking with me. I know I have
disappointed them and somehow Misha and Ruhi’s facial expression told me
everything.
Auto
driver looked at me sadly and then he just walked out from the police station.
Dad
asked inspector Shinde, “mai aab apni beti ko ghar leke jaa sakta hoon?”
Inspector
Shinde stood up and replied softly, “Jee haan. Aab aap apni beti ko ghar leke
jaa sakte hai.”
Dad
shook his hand with inspector Shinde and turned behind. He wore his big black
goggle and grabs my hand to take me along with him.
I
couldn’t utter a single word from my mouth. I blankly stared at dad and his behavior confused me.
“Car
mai baitho.” Finally, dad spoke to me, but there was strictness and rudeness
flashed in his voice. He simply pushed me at the door of backseat.
“Mai
kahin nahi jaa rahi hoon.” At last, my own voice was back. I really missed my
voice as all this confusion had trolled me and I had no idea what to speak and
how to speak. But this was the time, I really wanted to speak because I can’t
simply go like this from Karjat. I’ve not visited other two-three tourist spots
and I wanted to go there.
Misha
and Ruhi were not the same anymore. They were seriously looking at me. They too
had forced attitude in them and tried convincing me to sit inside the car. But
I didn’t agreed.
Mom
came closer to me in anger. She narrowed her eyes and under her breath she
threw shocking words on my face, “Yaha police station ke saamne tamasha mat
khada karo. Ghar chal ke baat karenge. Car mai baith jaao.”
“Tamasha?”
I murmured.
“Aisa
kya kar dia hai maine jo aap sab itna gussa hai? Mai jaane se pehle sab batah
kar gayi toh thi letter mai? Aur yeh koi pehli baar nahi hai jo mai trip pe
gayi hoon. Toh fhir aaj yeh natak kis liye.” I depressively replied with tears
in my eyes that were dripping on my cheeks.
Mom clenched her teeth, pressed my hand, and
shake it continuously. She responded under her breath “bahut bewakuf bana liya
tumne. Aab aur nahi. Bina tamasha kiye car mai baith jaao. Ghar jaa ke baki
baat karenge.”
Misha
whispered in my ear clenching her teeth, “Piya jada baat mat karo. Unko sab
pata chal chuka hai.” I shockingly looked at Misha and then Ruhi.
Ruhi
whispered but in her sugary voice, “woh na, tumhare dad, mom-” Misha
interrupted Ruhi and signalled her by placing index finger on her lip and
hinting to keep quite. She even blinked her eyes twice.
I
knew it somehow Misha’s expression had revealed everything, but still I didn’t
wanted to believe.
Dad
and mom both almost forced me to sit in the car. There was no way to escape.
Kabir and Angad were standing behind me. Even they came to know everything
about my stupidity and I’d see disappointment and worriedness same time in
Kabir and Angad’s face. But I saw Angad giving a forced smile. Whereas,
Kabir busy staring in my eyes innocently and even if he didn’t speak a single word
to me. Still, I managed to hear his unsaid words that were screaming about his
pain, my foolishness of run away from house and the suffering that he must be
feeling right now in his heart. After knowing the whole truth about my
obsession of vampire that forced me to run away.
He
then smiled at me and without saying anything, he left me there alone with
Misha and Ruhi. Angad ran behind him. They both sit in Kabir’s jeep and
vanished in front of my eyes.
For
a second, I just felt bad for Kabir, as I knew he still expect that I will be
his.
Mom
still in the forcing process. Misha and Ruhi hinted me to sit down, as I’ve no
other choice. Misha was somehow right. I really had no choice at that moment. I
could run away again, but where? I hardly know anything about this place and
what if I lost myself in this place? Then how will I find vampire in Karjat?
This
was something serious and I agreed to sit with Misha and Ruhi at backseat. Mom
and dad were sitting in front.
Dad
started driving the car. There was silence in the car and no one spoke
anything. The atmosphere felt like heating and I could see too many question
mark sign on everyone’s face. Mom was turning her head behind in-between and
looking at me, as if I would start talking about my last night’s worst
experience.
I
wasn’t sitting in a normal way. Misha was sitting at the left side of the
window seat and Ruhi at right side of window seat. I was sitting in the middle
with both the hands on my lap shaking in nervousness. My body had stiffness while
sitting and my legs were shaking along with my hands.
Misha
breaks the silence by starting with her first speech, “kal tumhare saath kya
hua tha, Piya?” Mom again looked behind and strictness visible on her face. My
jaw almost dropped on the ground, seeing mom’s horror face.
I
nervously started talking when Misha took my hand in her. My body felt
shivering as if cold hits against my body and throat almost felt sourness. I
didn’t even had brushed or taken bath. I could smell stinky breath from my own
mouth, when I opened to speak. I immediately closed my mouth. I’ve no idea how
many of them could smell stinky breath from my mouth. Everyone simply gave
blank reaction to me and waited for me to talk.
Dad
was looking at me from his front-view mirror that faced at his side. His eyes
had angriness, which I could feel while watching him through the mirror.
“Speak
up? Aab kya mahurat ka intezar karegi?” Misha abruptly said loudly but a slight
amusement rose in her voice when she rolled her eyes and twists her neck
towards me.
For
a moment, my body shook in fear.
I
nodded my head by passing my gaze through everyone’s face and started talking
about last night incident.
First,
I talked about my Karjat station experience, then conversation with Auto driver
in his Auto, hotel room, that man in the reception who warned me not to go at
night. Infact he is the biggest culprit. He informed police because he somehow
suspected me as if I’m a criminal. That’s why police reached at the Peth Fort
from where auto driver and I was arrested at 4 A.M. in the morning. I also
shared my experience of Kondana caves.
At
that moment, I could visualise myself in front of my eyes when I was in Peth
Fort.
*Flashback*
“Aa
gaya Peth Qila.” Auto driver said excitedly. He started describing Peth fort as
the most beautiful fort in Karjat. I stared fort from inside the auto. I
couldn’t see anything more than darkness formed surrounding the fort.
I
walked towards the fort that was far away from my sight. I could see tine shape
of the fort. It looked like a small mountain from far away. The fort situated
in hillside. I started walking on the green grass that looked dark at nighttime.
As soon as I reached the fort, I had to pull my head up to look at the beauty
of the dark fort. A rock solid fort generally offers a universal view at
nighttime. Even if the fort surrounded with darkness, I could still say it is
as beautiful as it might be at daytime, though the beauty of fort does comes
with horrifying view too. Especially, if you get scared of darkness, this is
not the place to visit at night. It will frown you and phobia will troll your
body. It’s the most dangerous and quite place I’ve ever visited in my entire
life. The danger about this place is you can view foothills as it offers universal
view. It is conical shaped hilly fort at the pinnacle of the mount and placed
at the backdrop of Western Ghats and if you have phobia of Ghats, then you
should skip this place.
I’d
notice stones on the road that was surrounded with green small trees along with
green grasses.
I
walked everywhere in the fort, but I couldn’t trace vampires anywhere nearby.
This is such a peaceful place. I’m amazed that none vampires were visible in
this fort. I gazed at every single part of this fort, but I couldn’t get a
single sign of vampires in this place.
I
literally fed up walking everywhere and when my energy level started
decreasing, I just decided to walk out of the fort.
At
that moment, I heard the siren sound. When I reached near the auto, I saw
police jeep. I thought they came for patrolling in this fort. But as soon as
the police inspector in his khaki uniform came out of his police jeep, he
interrogated me, “Aap Piya hai?” I nod my head.
“Aap
ko mera naam kaise pata chala?” I confusingly asked him.
“Aap
ko abhi issi waqt mere saath police station chalna hoga.” He said
straightforward without any argument or cross-questioning.
He
even took Auto driver, along with me. It was embarrassing to sit in the police
jeep with two stupid constables who were smiling and showing their stained
yellow teeth to me. Both the constables were old. They were not of my
grandfather’s age. But they must have crossed their fifty’s by now.
As
soon as we reached police station, this inspector treated us like a criminal
and forcibly took us inside the police station.
“Yeh
kya hai? Aap yaha iss tarah se hummein kyun leke aaye hai? Kya hum aap ko
criminal nazar aate hai?” I asked frowning.
“Pehle
yeh batao tum yaha kis maksat se aayi ho?” Police inspector questioned sitting
on the table and leg on the chair. He bends towards front and his elbow resting
against his thigh.
“Mai
tourist hoon aur ghumne aayi hoon.” I replied firmly.
“Tourist
toh din mai ghumne aate hai. Raat mai nahi.” He said looking at me and then
immediately he screams at his constable saying, “Ae jaa re, yala taak lockup
madhe.” He pointed his hand towards auto driver and told constable in Marathi
to put him in the lockup.
Auto
driver pleaded that he has not done anything. Even, I tried to convince police
inspector. But nothing affected him. I didn’t understand why he put him in the
lockup.
“Hey
bagh, tu jya hotel madhe thambleli-” He looked at me, I was absolute confused
as he was talking in Marathi. I interrupted him by saying that I don’t
understand his language. So he translated in Hindi.
“Dekho,
tum jis hotel mai ruki thi. Waha se complaint aaya tha ke unko shaq hai ke
kahin tum aatankwadi toh nahi ho.” My eyes almost popped out hearing his last
word.
“Aatankwadi?”
I mumbled.
“Mai
aap ko aatankwadi nazar aati hoon?” I uttered those words in shock.
“Aab
chehre pe thodi likha hota hai ke tum aatankwadi ho ya nahi?” He spit those
words on my face while rubbing his earlobe and bending forwards on his stomach.
While he was talking, I noticed his voice signed like a Marathi man. Maybe he
is Maharashtrian.
“Saab
mujhe chod doo. Maine toh kuch nahi kia. Yeh didi ne hi mujhe rupaye ka lalach
deke tourist jagah pe ghumane ke liye kaha.” Auto driver pleaded joining his
hands and tears were dripping from his eyes.
“Rishwat?”
He whispered.
“Toh
tumne rishwat dia iss auto driver ko?” He said angrily and screamed at
constable in Marathi, “hila pan gehun jaa. Barobar chartsheet banaoto hicha
badal.” Police again spoke in Marathi but when he mentioned chartsheet, I
realised he was misusing his power.
Police
cannot misuse their power by making fake chartsheet, until unless they have
proof against the criminals.
I
threatened police inspector while constable was forcing me to go inside
the lockup, “tum jante nahi ho ki mai
kis ki beti hoon. Tum jo yeh police wardi ka galat
faida utha rahe ho, woh utar jaayegi. Yaad rakhna?” When I pointed index finger towards him, constable
had already put me inside the lockup.
The
police inspector laughed and said, “acha? Zara mai bhi toh jaan lu kis ki beti
ho tum?” He teased.
“Arnab
Dobriyal naam suna hai?” I asked widening my eyes and clenching my teeth while
pointing forefinger towards inspector.
“Wahi
Arnab Dobriyal jo Dobriyal empires ka maalik hai?” I sighed nodding my head,
when he asked in a confirmed tone.
“Kya
sabut hai ke tum unki beti ho?” He narrowed his eyes and shook his head in
disbeliefs.
“Mai
Piya Dobriyal hoon. Arnab Dobriyal aur Madhu Dobriyal ki beti.” I
yelled.
“Yeh
koi sabut nahi hua. Mujhe sabut chahiye.” He blunted those words by widening
his eyes and shaking his fingers while walking towards the lockup.
For
a moment, I got scared. I can give them the number, but then dad don’t knows
yet that I’m not at home. At this time, they might be sleeping. But I gave
mom’s number. Because mom always switchoff her phone and sleeps. So that she
should not wake up due to mobile disturbance.
Police
inspector tried her number, but it was coming switchedoff. He told constable to
get me out from the lockup. I was relieved, I thought I can go now. I was about
to walk towards the door, but that inspector stopped me and told he has not
given permission to leave the police station.
He
continuously asked me dad’s number. But I refused. He told constable to slap
and hurt auto driver until I give the number. I could hear auto driver’s
scream. That constable was beating him abruptly and the wounds on his face were
visible. The constable beat him with a stick on his hand, then on leg, then on
thigh, on his arms. It was unbearable to hear his screaming voice. He was crying and his
pain was hurting me. My chest thud continuously.
“Bas.”
I screamed by placing my hands in my ears and closing my eyes. I agreed to give
the number but I put condition that he should not call my dad before 9 A.M. in
the morning.
He
asked me the reason, I told him it’s personal. He agreed to wait.
It was still 5 A.M.
in the morning and they must be sleeping
I
had no choice except waiting until 9 A.M. Still, tears were dripping on my cheeks.
I felt unbearable pain inside my chest, as if I would faint now. I’d see auto
driver who got arrested because of me and police inspector didn’t left him,
even when I pleaded for him.
Meantime,
police inspector and constables were busy with their own work and all I’d was
waiting for time to pass. I was still sitting on the bench and waiting to talk
with my parents.
Till
9 A.M. I was continuously crying remembering my
parents, my best friends Misha, Ruhi, Kabir and Angad. I wish I could call any
of them, but I didn’t wanted to disturb them at this time.
I
didn’t even got chance to visit any other places and neither I got chance to
see any vampires. All my hard work simply went in vain. It was painful even to think
that I’m losing hope and all I’d to was to wait for my family.

Two
Days Later In Train…
“Aunty
ji kya aap mujhe batah sakte hai yeh train ka last station kaunsa hai?”
I asked
to the wheatish-skin woman sitting opposite to me in train. She looked
like a working woman. Her hands filled with four plastic bags and black
leather office bag lay
on her lap. She wore the mixture of red and yellow Kanjivaram silk
saree, the
embroidery on her saree looked like a hand-made, along with the red
half-sleeve
blouse that too has embroidery.
She
didn’t utter a single word and stared at me in confusion. I felt embarrassing
because I’ve no idea where I’m going.
All
I know is, I’ve to hide myself from my dad and police who are behind me. I’ve
again ran from my house, but this time for other reason.
My
mom had forced me to marry Kabir, when I refused she locked me in my room and
treated me like a caged bird. This time, dad gave full support to her. When I came
to know that Kabir had no problem to marry me, all of sudden Misha, Ruhi and
Angad were supporting my parents. Therefore, I had no other choice, except
running from my house.
But
this time running from house was not easy. Because I’ve nothing in my hand,
this was not planned by me. Everything happened so sudden that I had no time to
plan and run. I don’t even have mobile, Mumbai map or anything that will keep
me safe and connected me with my family. I don’t even have money and neither I buyed ticket for travelling from
train.
My
dad and police, everyone is searching me and I’ve no idea where I’m going. I’ve
left everything on my destiny, maybe my destiny will show me the right path.
I
stared outside the window, the train was running faster, everything outside was
dark and blurred for my eyes. Finally, I saw light that was coming from bit
closer. As soon as train reached to that light, I could see platform and many
crowds that were waiting for train to stop. I saw the white kite-shape board,
in which Kalyan name was visible. At that same time, the wheatish woman who was
sitting opposite to me, stood up and started walking. As soon as she passed my
way, she whispered without looking at me, “Last station Titwala”
Somehow,
I felt she gave me a hint that this train is Titwala local. I never visited
that place before. I’ve heard that this is kind of holy place. I mean many
people come to this place for worshipping God Ganesha. I’m strong believer of
God Ganpati and now only my Ganpati is the last hope who will save me from this
marriage crap. I’ve no interest in Kabir, he knows that, still he wants to
marry me and my parents have given full support to him.
Maybe
that is why destiny chooses this place for me, because this is the place of God
Ganesha, whom I believe to be my strong supporter. He always listen my prayer
and has given everything that I wanted.
As
soon as that woman and some other ladies walked out of the compartment. I saw a
rush of woman's who were pushing each other to enter inside. I never saw such
rush at night ten p.m. The woman's in the crowd were whispering to each other,
walked inside, and sat on different benches.
I
was getting impatient and bit worried as the train was moving slowly, instead
of going fast. The two wheatish-skin woman’s sitting beside me were giggling
and talking to each other.
One
of them wore green saree; she asked me, “tumhi kuthe utarnar aaheit?” I
narrowed my eyes and confusingly stared at her.
“Sorry.
Mujhe Marathi nahi aata hai.” I said softly.
That
woman laughed and replied, “Aap kaha utarne wale hai?”
“Las-Last
station.” I stuttered.
“Oh Titwala?” She questioned. I nodded and remained mum.
One-by-one
woman's walked out of the compartment as their stations arrived.
Since
now, it was slow train and as soon as Titwala arrives, I got down from the
train. But I placed white dupatta of my white Anarkali dress, on my head and
covered my face under dupatta. Now only my eyes were visible, everything else
hidden. I had doubt that my dad anyhow would find me. The platform was crowded,
it was ten-thirty p.m. at night and platform was full with crowd.
I
was about to step out of the station, when I felt a hard touch of someone’s hand on
my shoulder at back. I nervously turned behind. It was TC in his dark uniform
and cap on head. He said to show the ticket. I unwrapped my dupatta from face
and sadly replied, “Ticket toh mere paas nahi hai.”
“Aap
chaliye mere saath abhi.” TC said in his strict electrical voice.
I
rolled my eyes from left to right, everybody on the platform stared at me,
giving a blank expression. I embarrassingly put my head down and walked with
TC. He took me in his office.
“Aap
ko pata hai na bina ticket ke train se travel karna crime hai?” TC said again
in his electrical voice by pushing his hands on his table and with a bended
position, he stood near his chair. His dark eyes stared at me and waited for my
answer.
I
was already so much nervous that my throat failed to respond. I played with my
fingers while standing in front of him and my dark eyes were not ready to meet
his dark eyes.
“Mai
aap ke jawab ka intezar kar raha hoon. Aap ko pata tha ya nahi?” His electrical
voice commanded me to answer in yes or no. I nodded my head and hinted him my
answer is yes.
“Toh
aap ne ticket kharida kyun nahi?” He paused, waiting for my reply.
I
hold my breathe and shook my head in response as well as nervously I replied, “Kyunki mai apna bag ghar
bhul aayi hoon.”
He
wasn’t ready to listen my excuse. He forced me to pay penalty, when I refused, he asked to give my dad’s number. I’d no
choice, distracted him, and ran from his office. He screamed, “Ruko… Ruko.”
But,
I didn’t stopped. He sends his three mans behind me. I just didn’t looked at
them and kept running, until I found one auto standing in a row, outside the station. I just sat
in the auto and told him to keep on driving.
I
saw one auto following me. I was scared, I could feel sweat wrestling on my forehead.
Auto driver asked me where I wanted to go. But, I had no idea, I simply told
him to drive. I just wanted to dodge those three mans.
Auto
driver unfortunately took the forest-side road. I could see too many big trees
surrounded by the road. As I turned behind to see auto that was following me,
to my surprise auto took a reverse and vanished in front of my eyesight.
I exhaled as now
the whole road was empty, except my auto, nothing else I could see on the road.
I again breathe out in relaxation. For a moment, I felt like it was my first time
when I really felt happy for dodging the auto. But, I’m still unsure whether
the effect of auto’s disappearance was because of my dodging or probably some
other reason.
Auto
driver again asked me where I want to go. I saw road again, it was gloomy
outside, no moon or stars were visible up on the dark sky. I didn’t had money
to give this auto driver. So I just told him to drive the auto straight in same
direction.
Since
this is the forest area, auto driver told me scarily, “yeh sunn-saan raasta raat
ke samay kafi darawna hota hai.” His voice alarmed horror.
I
laughed and asked, “Kyun bhaishaab? Raat ke waqt yaha sher aate hai kya?” He
shockingly stared at me, at the end of my talk.
“Aap
yaha pehle bhi aaye hai?” He asked confusingly.
“Nahi
toh.” I replied promptly
“Toh
aap ko kaise pata ke yaha raat ke waqt sher ko dekha gaya hai?” I widened my eyes
when he revealed about tiger.
“Kya?”
I asked in disbelief. My eyes were as widened as before. I just had said
about the tiger in fluke, but didn't knew that it exist here.
“Haan.
Isliye toh yaha raat ko 10 baje ke baad koi nahi aata hai.” He spit those words
on my face, while looking behind at me but his voice had a sign of panic.
“Toh
bhaishaab aap iss raaste se kyun aaye?” I scarily asked.
“Galti
se yeh raasta pakda maine. Isliye toh aap ko kab se puch raha hoon ke aap ko
kaha jana hai?” He nervously replied. But as soon as he finished his talk, he
abruptly put break to his auto.
“Kya
hua?” I asked staring at his body motion while pulling hand brake.
“Lagta
hai kuch gadbad hai. Abhi aata hoon.” He uttered while moving out
from his seat. His body motion shook while going behind to check. I
heard some cracking voice of the door as if he was
opening something.
“Madam,
petrol khatam ho gaya hai. Aap ko yahi pe utarna hoga.” He said in apologizing
tone.
“Yaha?”
I shook my head and continued, “ya-yaha mai kaise utar sakti hoon? Aap ne kaha
tha yaha sher hai, toh?” I was sweating a lot and I could feel nervousness in
my own voice.
“Haan.
Par aur koi chara bhi nahi hai. Aap ko yaha se chal ke jana hoga. Iss waqt aap
ko auto bhi nahi milega.” By saying this, he left me there alone and he pushed
his auto with his hand, while walking in a reverse way.
I
continued my walking with a hope that atleast I may find any vehicle on the
road. But there was none. I walked for thirty minutes, but this forest road
didn’t come to an end.
At
that moment, I heard someone giggling. As I turned behind, a flash of
headlight made my eyes blurred and I was not able to open my eyes properly. I
hide my eyes with one-hand and heard the sound of engine.
“Aap
ko kahin chod du?” I head a male teasing voice. I slowly brought my hand down
and opened my eyes to see that male.
Five
young boys sitting in the jeep with the beer in their hands. For a moment, I thought
they came on this road as a hope for me. But, I was wrong. They were kind-of, “Amir
baap ke bigde hue aulad.” One of them hopped out of their jeep and came closer.
His mouth had a smell of beer, which he again took a sip and said in a drunken
voice, “chaliye aap ko kahin chod du?” His stinky breath unknowingly rubbed on my face.
“No
thanks.” I said arrogantly by closing my mouth with one-hand.
Another
boy smirk and said, “arey tum itna bhav kyun kha rahi ho? Yeh jungle wala
raasta hai. Jungli sher ghumte hai yaha. Tumko ghar chod denge kaha na?” He pulled
my hand forced me to sit in his jeep.
All
other three boys, included the boy sitting in the driver seat also came closer
circling me and grinning towards me. They were wearing casual shirts and pants.
However, their faces were kind-of villains.
“Chalo,
hamare saath chalo? Hum lift denge.” They teased in chorus. The boy who pulled
my hand in force, I just took advantage of their eyes that glued on my eyes. I
just distracted them by looking at their behind, as if someone was standing
behind them. As soon as they turned to look behind, I just bite that boy’s hand with my white strong teeth
and he screams, “Aah!” leaving my hand from his fist and shakes his bitten hand.
"Saali" I heard the boy screaming by shaking his bitten hand.
I
just ran away from them and they started running behind me. I started
panting
while running on that forest-side road. I failed to dodge them, as they
were
still running behind me. I placed my hand on the stomach as it was
aching and lungs missed the air. The beat of my heart was running faster
than me, as if
my heart wanted to jump off my throat. My hands and legs were getting
weaker; I
couldn’t breathe anymore and had to stop somewhere. I saw a big tree at
the
left side, where I ran and hide myself.
“Iss
ladki ko chodna mat, Vivek.” I heard someone saying that. I closed my mouth so
that I don’t keep on panting. I hold my breath for a while until I could get
success in dodging them. I could see the backside of five boys. Their heads were
moving from left to right. They were searching me.
“Chahe
kuch bhi ho jaaye, mai uss ladki ko chodunga nahi.” The boy whose hand I bit
said those words angrily by clenching his fingers on his fist.
“Vivek,
hum yaha jada der tak nahi ruk sakte hai.” The middle boy said that frustratedly.
“Tum
ko jana hai toh jaao, Satish. Iss ladki ko sabak sikhaye bina nahi jaaunga mai
yaha se.” The boy whose hand I bit, I guess his name must be Vivek as other boy
took his name while looking and talking to him.
“Tum
dono waha dhundo uss ladki ko.” Vivek said by giving instruction in a louder tone.
“Jungle
mai? Khatra hai, Vivek.” The last boy at the right side corner replied.
“Khatra
toh hai, Amit. Par uss ladki ko sabak sikhaye bina nahi jaaunga.” Vivek warned.
I
thought these boys would not go from here. So I’d a trick. I gazed at stones under
my sandal. I just took one of those hard small stone and threw that at other direction, so
that I could get more time to get out from this place.
As
soon as those five boys heard stone sound, four of them went running towards
same direction. But fifth boy, Vivek was still standing in front of me
showing his back. But when I saw him turning behind, his eyes started searching
something towards my way.
I
saw him coming slowly towards my way. I started going behind, so that he
shouldn’t find me.
His
legs kept on moving in front and my legs were moving backward at the same time.
I kept on moving until I hurted my back against the wood of one big tree, which was
deep inside the forest. I’d no idea how I simply stomped inside this forest.
I
met a flash of icy blue eyes that were twinkling in darkness. Those icy blue
eyes started moving in front of me, I was so scared of those eyes that I kept on
moving back.
I
couldn’t see anything else in that gloomy forest, except those twinkling icy
blue eyes that glued on me.
In
just a second, I saw the skin of his nose, big and thick. That’s wasn’t a human
skin. It was an animal skin. I started getting scared looking at that skin. I
again stepped behind and those eyes, nose kept moving in front. I heard someone
breathing louder, as if someone is roaring.
The
sweat was non-stop rolling on my face and my lip turned dry. My hands and legs
were shaking. I halted my body, which was shaking too, and my head stuck on the
wood of the tree.
From
that darkness, I saw big broad mouth being open, along with his two big teeth's
at the corner and at bottom. The shadow slowly getting invisible as the face
came in front of my eyes. My eyes and mouth widely opened in scared. It was none
other than the tiger.
The
auto driver was right, in the forest of Titwala, tiger really exist and it is
not a rumour, which I thought. I came face-to-face in front of tiger.
I
screamed for help and immediately in a few seconds, I saw those five evilly
boys coming in front of me. They teased, but their eyes didn’t meet with Tiger.
I
hinted them with my eyes to look in front. Vivek grinned, “Aankhen kya ghuma
rahi ho? Aab kaha jaaogi bach ke?” He smirked.
I couldn’t hear my own voice. I was so frightened
seeing tiger, that I felt I lost my voice. My throat wasn’t responding, my head
still stuck on the wood, as if I’m statue. The only thing I could feel
that was moving in motion was my own eyes. My hands and legs were still
shaking.
I
thought this is the end of my life and this tiger will kill me. The
tiger
roared looking at those five boys. Those boys got so scared that they
started
running from my way. I wanted to ask help, but I couldn’t. Tiger pounced
on one
of them and killed him in front of my eyes. I couldn’t do anything,
except
watching tiger eating his skin. His body bleeded and bloods were
spreaded everywhere on the ground. The green grass turned bloody grass.
Other
four I thought got success in running from the tiger. But that wasn’t true.
Tiger killed all four of them one-by-one. Everything happened in front of me,
but I couldn’t do anything, except watching and whining. I could feel tears in
my eyes that jumped off on the cheeks, nose and on my lip.
After
killing them, tiger came back to me, kept on watching me, roaring at me and I couldn’t
do anything to escape, as if my body wasn’t willing to escape. My body already
lost the sensation. I couldn’t feel my own soul and everything in front of me
became blurred due to the tears that were swimming in my eyes.
I
opened my mouth in a hope that I can ask for help. Luckily, my throat
responded. I screamed loudly for help and the echo of my own voice, I could
hear in my ears in this huge deep forest.
Tiger
roared and walked slowly in front of me.
“Tera
intezaar
Karoon
mere yaar
Mujhe
pyaar se
Kabhi
toh pukaar
Tera
naam le
Yeh
dil baar-baar
Mujhe
pyaar se
Kabhi
toh pukaar.” I heard someone singing this song melodiously in darkness.
Tiger
stared at darkness in the direction from where that song was hearable. I saw
peace on tiger’s face. That song was relaxing him.
I
kept staring at darkness from where that voice was coming.
“Kya
dhoop kya ghatayein
Kya
dhool kya hai shabnam
Tere
liye bhula doon
Ek
saath saare mausam
Tu
jo ishara kar de
Shaam-e-gulaab
kar doon
Dil
roo pade khushi se
Main
itna pyaar bhar doon
Aaye
toh phir na jaaye
Main
hoon woh bahaar.” The male voice continued with the song. Still I couldn’t see
that person’s face.
At
the same time, when I glanced at tiger, he slowly sat down on his feet and placed
his head on his feet. His eyes were blinking and being narrowed.
I
surprisingly continued staring at darkness with the hands at the back of the wood.
“Tera
intezaar
Karoon
mere yaar
Mujhe
pyar se
Kabhi
toh pukaar.
Tera
naam le
Yeh
dil baar-baar
Mujhe
pyar se
Kabhi
toh pukaar…” As the male voice ended singing, I saw a pair of icy blue eyes
coming in front through the darkness. When I saw same color eyes, I got scared.
I thought it would be a partner of tiger. I still sweated continuously.
I’d
no idea, why I couldn’t move myself from that forest. Especially when one tiger
is sitting down resting his head against his skinny feet and another one coming
from darkness.
I
struggled myself to shake my body and move from that place. But, before I could
move, I saw tiger standing on his hind legs. I was shocked to see him when his
eyes glued at the pair of icy blue eyes.
Those
eyes kept on moving in front and I could see pink male full-lips that were
watery. It wasn’t a tiger, that lips belongs to the human. I saw a dark tall figure
in front of me, as soon as the figure came closer to me, my heartbeat pumped
faster. Before, I could faint by heart attack, my arms were held by that man. He
held me in his arms and didn’t allowed me to fall on the ground that were
filled with dry grasses, stones and muds.
His
strong muscle protected me and gave me shelter. I stared in his icy blue eyes
that were deep, innocent and hypnotic. For a moment, I felt that I’ve found my
vampire, but I was wrong, because his hands wrapped around my arms that were warm, not the cold ones.
Vampires are cold monster, not hot monster, atleast that is what I found in the
movies, novels, serials, though I’m not a big fan of novels, but movies,
serials, definitely indicates the samething. They are living dead so they cannot
be warmer. Infact, warmness can only be found in wolves.
Does that mean he is a wolf?
“Tum
theek ho?” I heard his strong voice in my ear.
I
simply nod my head, still looking into his deep icy blue eyes. It was hard to
take my eyes off from his. I saw his oval face that was pale white, clean shaved and soft skin like
girls.
He
just threw me from his arms, the back of my head stuck on the wood of the tree.
I saw concerned in his eyes, but that was not for me, it was for the tiger, that
was still standing on hind legs.
That
tall young boy hugged tiger and in a concerned voice, he said, “tumhe aisa nahi karna
chahiye tha. Itne ladko ko ek-ek kar ke kyun maara?” He smirked while closing
his eyes and continued his talk, “eksath maarna chahiye tha.”
I
shockingly stared at him. I couldn’t believe that boy was encouraging
tiger to
kill those boys in one-go. That tiger patted on the boy’s head with his
paw and narrowed his eyes. I saw a very friendly relation between the
tiger and the boy.
“Tum
pagal ho?” I couldn’t believe I actually spit those words on him. He actually
saved me from the tiger and saved from falling on the stones. Still, I called
him mad. But, I couldn’t resist when he encouraged tiger to kill in one-go.
He
quickly opened his eyes and angrily looked at me.
“Tum
iss sher ko eksath maarne ke liye kyun uksa rahe ho?” I angrily raised my voice pointing
my forefinger towards the tiger.
“Pehli
baat, woh sher nahi, sherni hai. Dusri baat tumhe sherni ka ehsan maana chahiye
ussne tumhe unn ladko se bachaya.” He smirked while glancing at his middle-finger
and continued, “yeh alag baat hai ke ussne tumhe apne swarth ke liye bachaya.” He
again smirked but arrogance rose in his voice.
“Apne
swarth ke liye?” I interrogated narrowing my eyes.
“Haan.
Tumhe khana uska apna swarth hi toh tha.” He grinned and gave an arrogant
attitude on his face by twisting his head towards another side and placing his
one hand inside his pocket.
I
asked confusingly, “Tumne unn ladko ko mere paas aate hue dekha tha?” He nods
his head without uttering a single word from his mouth and crossed his hands at
his back.
“Maine
unn ladko ko tumhe chedte hue bhi dekha tha aur yaha tumhara picha karte hue
bhi dekha tha.” He angrily clenches his teeth while poking those words towards
my face. I saw a flash of hatred on his face when he talked about those boys.
“Toh
tumne mujhe bachaya kyun nahi?” I asked possessively, but my eyes still glued
on his icy blue eyes.
“Tum
bahut sawal karti ho. Kya itna kafi nahi hai ke tum zinda ho?” He spit those
words as if poking in my heart. I could see frustration lying on his face, but I
couldn’t comprehend those frustration was because of me or for me.
At
that moment, I noticed his grey casual shirt with forearm-sized sleeves and
blue loosed pant.
He
slowly
walked towards me; the innocence on his face, weaken me in his arms as I
was about to tripped while looking at his beautiful face that had
perfect small nose, full pink lips, deep icy blue eyes, thick eyebrows
and soft silky short hair.
He again held me in his arms. We
both looked into each other’s eyes. My one hand resting against his broad
covered chest and another on his shoulder, whereas he grabbed me around my
lower waist. He looked so handsome that I almost forgot myself and to thank him for
saving me from tigress.
But,
before I could say anything, he complaint as if reading my thoughts, “mujhe lagta hai aab tak toh maine
tumhe teen baar bachaya hoga. Par tumne ek baar bhi thanks nahi kaha.” He leaned down on my face and unknowingly left the mark of his sweet warm breath.
I
laughed and pat on my head, “Thanks. Haan sahi kaha tumne teen baar bachaya
mujhe, isliye teen baar thanks, thanks, thanks.” I comedily voiced.
“Yeh
toh chaar baar thanks hua.” He widened his eyes while staring closer in my eyes
and continued, “Lagta hai ek aur baar tumhe bachana hoga tumhari aakhri thanks
wala udhar chukane ke liye.” He grinned at the end.
I
blushed when he said the last line. I almost felt like I was flying in the sky
and not willing to come down.
I
heard the roaring sound again. Tigress looked at me in anger. Her broad mouth
willing to pounce on me, maybe to bite me. But, that boy stood in-between us.
He
took me at his back and willing to face anger of tigress alone. I hold
under his arms tightly from back and looked down at tigress from above his shoulder.
“Tera
intezaar
Karoon
mere yaar
Mujhe
pyaar se
Kabhi
toh pukaar
Tera
naam le
Yeh
dil baar-baar
Mujhe
pyaar se
Kabhi
toh pukaar.” He again sang the song and the sweetness showered in his voice. As
soon as he sang those lines, I could see calmness on tigress face.
She sat down on her feet and laid her head by blinking and narrowing her eyes.
“Tumhara
yeh gana gaate hi yeh sherni shant kaise ho jati hai?” I confusingly asked
narrowing my eyes. He laughed showing his pale white teeth.
“Yeh
gana usse pasand hai.” The boy replied innocently.
“Par
yehi gana kyun?” I frustratedly asked.
“Kyunki
usse bhi kisi ka intezar hai. Aur yeh gana usse yaad dilata hai ki woh akeli
hai. Isliye woh udaas hoke shant ho jati hai.” I could feel pain in his voice when his eyes were not willing to meet mine and he hides his feelings under his smirk.
I
raised my eyes and asked, “Usse bhi? Matlab? Kisi aur ko bhi hai kisi ka
intezar?” He groaned and didn’t utter anything.
“Batao
please?” I pleaded.
“Tum
bahut sawal karti ho.” He complaint raising his arrogant voice and continued, “chalo tumhe chod du, isse
pehle sherni tumhe apna shikar bana de, mai tumhe jungle ke bahar chod deta
hoon.”
He
pulls my hand and holds tightly under his fist. I slap on his hand with my free
hand and pulled my hand from his grip. I said angrily, “Tum jab tak mere sawal
ka jawab nahi dooge. Mai yaha se kahin nahi jaaungi.”
“Tumhe
daar nahi lagta hai? Agar woh sherni aa gayi aur tumhe maar dia toh?” He
responded possessively.
“Tumne
aab tak chaar baar bacha liya mujhe. Toh fhir daar kis baat ka?” I uttered in
such a way as if I already knew he would save me again.
Though,
he is a stranger to me, still we behaved in such a way to each other as if we
both own rights on each other. Moreover, I couldn’t understand that sudden
attraction towards him. Though, I hate wolves, but don’t know why I feel that
he is not a wolf, infact he is the same person that I always wanted to be with.
I didn’t felt that he was stranger to me. He too behaved as if he already knows
that I’ll come to him. I’ve seen so many of my questions already answered in
his deep icy blue eyes.
Eventually,
I was confused when looking into his eyes, but on the other side, I felt a
strong connection with him that forced me to question my own destiny, still my heart have faith in him.
Phew! Again very big chapter.
This is one of the best chapter I wrote so far. The most important
Abhiya are choosen by destiny and met co-incidently. So do you believe
in destiny? If yes, then enjoy this part.
